, Director General of the Royal Prussian Gardens in the 19th century, put into practice his spacious design principles, joining together the various elements of Potsdam's surroundings.
The show garden with famous collections of perenials and the historic garden both creations of Karl Foerster, the poet amongst the artist gardeners, have been restored on the occasion of this garden festival.
Three days would probably be a minimum to explore the Garden Show and the cultural and historic heritage of Potsdam.
The whole Land a Garden
An other Unesco world cultural heritage, worth while visiting, is
the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm.
The most famous of the Gartenreich landscapes, Wörlitz Gardens, are one of the earliest works
of landscape gardening in Central Europe and were built after Prince Leopold III.Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau ( 1740-1817 ) had toured England and Italy.
The Garden Realm is embedded in The Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve(UNESCO), which can be explored by walking or by cycling.
